Not so peaceful Gandhi

The other side of Gandhi

I came across this notion today which stated some disturbing things about M.K. Gandhi’s life before becoming MAHATMA! I am not sure what to make out of them and looking forward to your input on this so we can get any confusion cleared…
Did you know Gandhi was not always the peaceful man he is well-known for being?

In fact, he was not always a pure PEACE LOVING man and he allowed for violence as a last resort.

He volunteered to fight in three wars in in his middle age : The Boer War, World War I and The Zulu War.

In a famous statement about freedom of India, Gandhi said: “If a fight is inevitable I would expect every son of the soil to contribute his mite…I would not flinch from sacrificing a million lives for India’s liberty.”

Also during the freedom struggle, he wore nothing but a loin cloth, but for years he lived in London and used to wear a silk hat, spats and carried a cane. Source: http://tinyurl.com/ca4mfog

For me PERSONALLY, even if these things are true then they are what makes him all the more admirable. It is not easy to change but he became ‘the change he wanted to see in the world’.
