Govt Planning To Nominate Kumbh For UNESCO Cultural Heritage List?

Since Govt Has Taken Yoga To Merge With The World Looks Like Modi Govt. Might Take Kumbh To Be Nominated As UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.

Kumbh Mela is the greatest pilgrimage and festival in the Hindu religion. The event is a religious and cultural spectacle which occurs once in 12 years attracting participants from around the globe to take a dip in the holy waters of Ganga, Yamuna and the mystical Saraswati. Maha Kumbh Festival 2013 is speculated to be one of the biggest congregations in the history of mankind Around more than 100 million People Across The Globe Gathers.

A Letter Has Been Written By A Trustee Of Trimbakeshwar Devatsthan Trust To The Union Cultural Minister Mahesh Sharma Regarding Which When Asked About it He Said “We have received a formal proposal in written and request from some groups to nominate the Kumbh Mela as Intangible Cultural Heritage under Unesco. Kumbh is something exclusive and unique to our country and definitely worth considering. The proposal is under examination by the culture ministry which will now consider issues like which category to nominate it under and other finer points necessary to take it ahead,”

India has already nominated Yoga for inclusion as intangible heritage in 2016. One of those who has proposed nominating the Kumbh to the world heritage sites register is Lalita Shinde, Trustee of the Trimbakeshwar Devatsthan Trust — the ancient temple that houses 12 jyotirlingas and is also the site for famous Kumbh Festival.

Kumbh is held every third year at one of the four places by rotation: Haridwar, Allahabad (Prayaga), Nashik and Ujjain. Thus the Kumbh Mela is held at each of these four places every twelfth year. Ardha (“Half”) Kumbh Mela is held at only two places, Haridwar and Allahabad, every sixth year. The rivers at these four places are Ganga at Haridwar, the confluence (Sangam) of the Ganges and the Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati at Allahabad, the Godawari at Nashik, and the Shipra at Ujjain.

Last Month Nashik organised Simhastha Kumbha Mela in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar At The Banks Of River Godavari.
