Punjab CM Amrinder Singh gives Trudeau list of ‘wanted’ peddlers

Capt Amarinder Singh had, in October last year, urged the Centre to take up with Canada the extradition of 10 NRIs declared POs in drug cases in the state. “Most of the names given to the Canadian PM now are the same,” a government official said.

Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh handed over a list of 11 Canada-based operatives, allegedly involved in the drug trade in Punjab, to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Amritsar yesterday. Some of them have been declared proclaimed offenders. The state government wants them extradited.

The Canadian Prime Minister was also reportedly given a list of nine category-A operatives said to be involved in financing and supplying weapons for terror activities.

Refusing to reveal the names, a senior government functionary said, “It is a confidential matter. The information has been exchanged at the diplomatic level.” Capt Amarinder had in October last year urged the Centre to take up with Canada the extradition of 10 NRIs declared POs in drug cases in the state.

In a letter, the CM had named Sarabjit Singh Sandhar, Ranjit Singh Aujla, Nirankar Singh Dhillon, Gursewak Singh Dhillon, Amarjit Singh Kooner, Lamer Singh Daleh, Pardeep Singh Dhaliwal, Amarinder Singh Chheena, Parminder Singh Deo and Ranjit Kaur Kahlon.

“Most of the names given to the Canadian PM are the same,” a government official said.
