Rajnath Singh announces new Indian reserve battalion named after Maharana Pratap

Udaipur: In a significant announcement, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday that an Indian reserve battalion named after Maharana Pratap will be set up.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said the government of India would never let the memory of Maharana Pratap fade from history, while announcing a new India Reserve Battalion named after the Rajput ruler from Mewar.

Singh was at Gogunda near Udaipur Tuesday on the occasion of the 475th birth anniversary of Pratap, which was celebrated by the state government with a grand event that also had Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in attendance.

Singh said Pratap protected his dignity through valour and sacrifice and never bowed down to the Mughals. He also announced a new Global Counter Terrorism Centre at the Sardar Patel Police University in Jodhpur. Raje and Singh unveiled a statue of Maharana Pratap on the occasion.

The announcement to set up the Maharana Pratap Reserve Battalion is in line with the government’s decision this January to set up 17 new reserve battalions for J&K and Left Wing Extremism affected areas.
