Hypocrisy of Kejriwal and AAP

Delhi Government can now raise VAT to 30%

Opposition leader Vijender Gupta said the bill amounted to “cheating” the people: “You promised not to increase VAT and now you have given yourself powers to do so.”

Not increasing the value-added tax directly in the Budget, the Delhi government on Monday introduced a VAT Amendment Bill that will allow the government to hike the tax on 11 goods by up to 30 per cent in future.

Opposition leader Vijender Gupta said the bill amounted to “cheating” the people: “You promised not to increase VAT and now you have given yourself powers to do so. Any increase will be borne by consumers.”

Till now, the cap on the VAT on 11 items under the fourth schedule is between 12.5 and 20 per cent. The items that could be impacted by a higher rate are mostly petroleum and tobacco related. They are naptha, aviation turbine fuel, spirit, gasoline, furnace oil, wax (except candle wax), any mixture and combination of above products, foreign liquor and Indian-made foreign liquor, country liquor, narcotics, molasses, rectified spirit, lottery tickets, brake fluid, tobacco gutkha, unprocessed tobacco, bidis and tobacco used in making bidis and hooka tobacco, aerated drinks and watches costing above Rs 5,000.

Government sources said the cap on VAT has been raised keeping in mind the rates of these products in the neighbouring states. The government especially wanted to target petroleum-related items. “The government will no longer need to call a session to get approval for a hike,” an official said.

Opposition leader Vijender Gupta said the bill amounted to “cheating” the people: “You promised not to increase VAT and now you have given yourself powers to do so. Any increase will be borne by consumers.”

Electricity expense of Kejriwal: Rs 91,000 in 2 months, reveals RTI

The RTI query was filed by Vivek Garg, an advocate and RTI activist.

The electricity bill of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Civil Lines residence was about Rs 91,000 for the months of April and May, according to an RTI reply.

The General Administration Department of Delhi Government has furnished the copies of electricity bill of Kejriwal’s Civil Lines residence running into Rs 91,000. The RTI query was filed by Vivek Garg, an advocate and RTI activist.

Delhi BJP, however, claimed that the bill was over Rs 1 lakh and said that it would also seek power bill details of all AAP ministers. “The Chief Minister’s residence has two electricity metres. The latest bills for the two metres are Rs 55,000 and Rs 48,000 (total Rs 1,03,000),” claimed Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Kapoor said. According to a senior official, the government will verify the bill before speaking on the matter.

This summer Kejriwa’s family enjoyed vacations at World’s most expensive place

From Ram Lila Maidan in New Delhi to the beautiful mountain resorts of Switzerland, the Aam Aadmi Party has come a long way.

For instance, if Sonia Gandhi’s children can holiday in London then, how can Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s kids be far behind? Guess where did Kejriwal and Kumar Vishwas’s family enjoyed the summer vacation after coming to power?

If a prominent journalist is to be believed, to relieve themselves from the scorching heat of Delhi, Kejriwal’s wife Sunita and his children were cooling their heels in Switzerland this summer which is considered to be one of the world’s most expensive holiday destination.

Sources said that during the first fortnight of June, Arvind Kejriwal’s wife and children were seen holidaying in the beautiful valley of Alps. Sunita Kejriwal was accompanied by Kumar Vishwas’s wife and kids. Sunita Kejriwal is an Indian Revenue Services officer posted in New Delhi.

While the unbearable heat waves were prevailing in the month of June in Delhi, the snow clad peaks of the lovely Alp mountains was the destination preferred by the Kejriwals. Sources said that besides the prominent journalist, few other Delhites too found the Chief Minister’s family in Switzerland. “ Why can’t Kejriwal’s family spend time in Swiss resorts? Obviously they did not go there to open a bank account. What’s the harm in travelling to Geneva,” said an AAP office bearer close to Kejriwal who requested not to carry the story .
