Baba Ramdev’s health camp turns into relief camp, starts blood donation drive and will adopt 500 orphaned children

Kathmandu: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Sunday said that his health awareness camp had become a relief camp to serve those affected by the massive earthquake in Kathmandu, adding that Patanjali camp is doing all it could to help the injured people.

“We had organised a health camp, but it has become a life saving camp. We have converted our health camp into a relief camp to serve people affected because of the earthquake. We have tried to accommodate as many people as possible, around 30 percent of people here are from India… We have arranged for a blood donation camp to help the injured. We have decided to adopt those children who have become orphans due to the earthquake,” Ramdev told ANI after addressing the people in the relief camp.

“I have seen lot of destruction since yesterday. The dais on which i was addressing, collapsed a minute after I left due to the earthquake. I think that I was saved to serve people,” he added.

Baba Ramdev had earlier on Saturday claimed that he had a narrow escape from death after the dais from which he was addressing a gathering in Kathmandu, collapsed right after he got down from the stage due to the earthquake.

The death toll due to the massive earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter Scale, which hit Nepal yesterday has reached 1,900, while over 5000 have been reported to be injured.

The Indian Government has sent four NDRF teams to Nepal and is planning to deploy three more to aid rescue operations in the country.

Meanwhile, NDRF teams have been deputed across all the affected states in India. A 24-hour control room for queries regarding the tragedy has also been set up.

The impact of the earthquake was felt in almost all northern states in India particularly in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim and West Bengal.

This campus will provide immediate accommodation to adopted children whom complete education, housing, food and values (sanskar) will be provided free of cost till 12th standard.
